Mobilisation of social forces to reduce corruption stressed

Director General (Prevention and Research) of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Dr. Shamsul Arefin stressed on mobilisation and engagement of the social forces to reduce corruption. “Members of the district, upazila and union level Corruption Prevention Committees (CPCs) can utilise their clean image in launching anti-corruption movement to create social renaissance in eradicating the curse from the society,” he said.
Dr Arefin said this while addressing a workshop styled “Our Expectation and Role in Preventing Corruption’ held yesterday at Begum Rokeya auditorium of RDRS Bangladesh in Rangpur as the chief guest.The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, ACC and German Development Cooperation (GIZ) jointly organised the workshop under the Justice Reform and Corruption Prevention (JRCP) Project. Additional Secretary and National Project Director of the JRCP Project of the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Md Mostafizur Rahman attended the workshop as special guest.
With Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar in the chair, President of District Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC) Professor Mozammel Haque and Additional Police Super Fazle Elahi also addressed the workshop. Director (Development Programme) of RDRS Bangladesh Monjusree Saha delivered welcome speech while Md Mostafizur Rahman introduced activities of the JRCP Project and main objectives of the workshop. National Coordinator of GIZ Krishna Chandra moderated the workshop, while members of district, upazila and union units of CPCs and Community Policing Forums, Advisers of Integrity Units, union chairmen, officials and civil society members participated.
