The two Dhaka city corporations will conduct mobile courts to guard safe food for the consumers during holy month of Ramzan.
Besides, it would organize workshops on safe food to create awareness among the traders involved in the preparation and marketing of Iftar items applying the hygiene rules on the occasion of Holy Ramzan.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atikul Islam said this while speaking at a workshop in it’s Gulshan Nagar Bhaban office on Thursday.
“We will conduct 10 mobile courts continuously during the holy month of Ramzan to ensure safe food. The DNCC authority doesn’t want to penalise any restaurant, rather it wants to give reward restaurant owners for supplying safe food. If we all work together, we can ensure safe food for the consumers,” the Mayor said.
Public awareness campaigns are needed to ensure safe food, he said, adding that the owners of restaurant have to go to another restaurant to known their mistakes. Such way, it would help each other in creating awareness, he hoped.
Mayor Atiqul said, at least 100 safe food trucks would be allowed in the DNCC areas to ensure safe street food.
These vehicles will be given to widows, helpless women and the third gender people, he said adding that these food cars will have QR code.
If it is succeeded, 100 more such street food cars will be provided, Atiqul added.
