The central bank estimates that transactions in mobile banking have increased ahead of Eid-ul-Fitr.
According to Bangladesh Bank estimate, daily average transactions in the new form of banking have reached Tk 5 billion this month.
BB Payment System Department General Manager Abdul Wadud said such transactions usually gained momentum ahead of Eid.
Central bank officials said banks sent information on their mobile banking transactions to Bangladesh Bank every month.
They are yet to send their June transaction records.
In May, the daily average transactions of all banks were Tk 4.2 billion.
But analysing the trend, Bangladesh Bank officials said now the daily transactions of all banks might have reached Tk 5 billion.
According to Bangladesh Bank, mobile banking activities rose by 28 percent in the month of Ramadan last year over the previous month but dropped 32 percent from that figure in the subsequent month.
It says 20 banks are offering mobile banking services. They have 550,000 agents and 27.29 million customers, of whom 11.5 million are active.
bKash, mobile banking wing of Brac Bank Ltd, has the highest number of customers.
bKash Chief Executive Officer Kamal S Kadir told bdnews24.com this was the peak time for mobile banking.
He said their customers were depositing around Tk 1 billion and withdrawing almost the same amount every day.
