A suspected robber was beaten to death by an angry mob in Narayanganj’s Araihajar upazila early Friday.
The 35-year-old deceased was yet to be identified, said Sub-Inspector Palash Kanti Ray of Araihajar Police Station.
Arman Hosen, a garment worker, was returning home from Roopganj after night duty on his motorcycle when a group of alleged robbers attacked him, the SI said adding that Arman’s relatives and neighbours came to look for him around 6am.
They found him tied to a tree in a mango orchard and saw two people trying to start his bike and flee, the SI said quoting witnesses.
The relatives and neighbours of Arman managed to chase the duo and catch one of them while the other fled.
Police recovered the body this morning and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy, the SI added.
