UNB, Keraniganj :
An alleged mugger was beaten to death by a mob in Bamansur area near Keraniganj Model Police Station early Saturday.
The deceased identified as Ripon,26, hailed from Daudkandi upazila of Comilla district. He used to reside in Shahidnagar area close to the police station.
Police said locals caught Ripon as he along with his two associates was in a position to rob people of their belongings on a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area at about 3:00 am.
Later, they gave Ripon a severe thrashing, leaving him critically injured.
Informed, police rescued him and rushed him to Malancha Health Complex.
As his condition deteriorated, Ripon was shifted to Mitford Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at about 6:00 am.
Mojibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of the police station, confirmed the incident saying the deceased was accused in several cases.
