Mizanur Rahman’s majestic 143 saw Rajshahi take early initiative against Sylhet as the they finished at 273 for 3 in their first innings on the third day of the stumps in tier 2 four-day 19th Walton Smart Fridge National Cricket League held on Sunday at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogra.
Opener Mizan consumed 169 balls to score a superlative 143 studded with 24 delightful
boundaries. One down batsman Junaid Siddique was batting on 82 laced with ten boundaries as Rajshahi were at 279 for 3 at stumps and having 58 runs lead with seven first innings wickets in hands Earlier in the day Sylhet Division resuming at overnight total at 95 for 6 saw some rearguard actions as they managed to take their total at 221 all out in their first innings against Rajshahi Division.
Things could have been worse for Sylhet as they were staggering at 112 for 8 but Abul Hasan’s defiant 60 with the help of eight boundaries found good support from Abu Jayed with 37 and Khaled Ahmed with a valuable 20 not out saw Sylhet saved their blushes as to be bowled out for 221.
Delwar Hasan with 4 for 72 was the leading Rajshahi bowler. He was well supported by Farhad Reza with 3 for 63 and Mamun Hossain with 2 for 50. Earlier, wet outfield almost consumed the second day’s play after the first day’s play called off due to inclement weather.
