Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) has submitted the progress report of investigation into the murder of Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of former superintendent of police (SP) in Chattogram Babul Akter, to the High Court.
Santosh Kumar Chakma, PBI inspector and the investigation officer of the case, submitted the report to the HC bench of Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Md Mostafizur Rahman on Sunday.
Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi told media that hearing on the progress report is likely to be held on February 4.
Earlier on December 2, 2020, the HC sought the written report on the progress of the Mitu murder case during hearing a bail petition of an accused Motaleb Mia Wasim.
Mitu was hacked and shot dead near GEC intersection in the port city early in the morning on June 5 of 2016, when she was taking her son to school.
Mitu, murder case was transferred to PIB after police failed to submit charge sheet of the case after investigation.
