Industry Minister Amir Hossain Amu said, gas crisis is a national one and which is not under control of the government. .
He said, I am well informed about the closures of different industries lack of gas supply and also sets examples of closures of fertilizer factories. He said in comparison with demand, gas production is less , as a result it turns a national issue not a created one. He disclosed it while addressing a seminar arranged at Hotel Agrabad hall in city on Wednesday as chief guest.
Patent,Design &Trade Marks Directorate, Chittagong under Ministry of industry arranged this seminar .
President of Chittagong Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mahbubul Alam and the Secretary of the Industry Minister Md. Mohiuddin Abdullah was present as special guests. CCCI President in his brief address said Chittagong is the only commercially based port city of the country where major and heavy industrial units are situated which are going to be ruined day by day lack of gas and the newly installed industries could not be operated after investment of millions of taka.
He urges the govt to find out alternative way to save the heavy industries. The minister thanked the chamber President for his constructive speech in the seminar, sources said.
