Brilliant unbeaten centuries by Mohammad Mithun and Tushar Imran enabled South Zone to piled up 325 for 2 in their first innings against Central Zone on the first day of four-day Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) held on Sunday at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground-3.
Skipper of South Zone Abdur Razzak won the cherished toss and without any hesitation decided to bat first. Well his decision turned out to be a correct one as his openers laid a perfect platform by notching 88 runs for the first wicket stand.
National opener Imrul Kayes and Fazle Mahmud came out blazing scoring 57 and 39 runs respectively. Kayes who will be joining the Bangladesh national team prior to second Test, looked in supreme touch as rattled up 59 off 126 deliveries and Mahmud scored his runs 75 balls.
After Central Zone bowlers took two quick wickets with South Zone on 112 for 2, one thought Central Zone were back in game.
But wicketkeeper batsman Mohammad Mithun and inform batsman Tushar Imran had other ideas as they batted with full grit and determination to add monumental 213 runs for the unfinished third wicket partnership to take South Zone in a commanding position as they finished the day at 325 for 2 in 90 overs when the stumps were drawn for the day one.
Both Mithun and Tushar Imran were in impressive form as they flayed the lack luster bowling of Central Zone all around the ground.
Mithun’s 127 came off 179 deliveries and were studded with thirteen delightful boundaries and three towering sixers while Tushar in top form this season went on to record his second ton as he scored 101 runs off 161 deliveries laced with nine well timed boundaries.
Shuvagato Homs and Mosharraf Hossain took one wicket each for 94 and 91 runs respectively for Central Zone.
