The interns of Sir Salimullah Medical College and Mitford Hospital have withdrawn their work abstention on Sunday evening after the postponement of the nurses similar programme.
Dr Iftekhar Amin, the spokesperson of the interns, told media that they have withdrawn the programme following a fruitful discussion with the college authority.
Most of the doctors have already joined works in the evening and the rest would join Monday, he said.
Earlier, the nurses postponed their work stoppage in the afternoon till Thursday following the assurance of justice given by the authority. The nurses of the hospital went on work abstention on Saturday afternoon protesting an alleged assault of a senior nurse by an intern following a brawl.
Following the incident, the hospital authority, suspended the accused intern–Rakibul Islam Sujon- and formed a probe-body to investigate into the matter.
Protesting the authority’s decision to suspend Sujon, the intern also abstained from working Sunday afternoon, creating a deadlock in the hospital. College principal Dilip Kumar Dhar and Surgery Department head Prof Mahbubul Alam had a meeting with Director of the hospital Brigadier Gen Zakir Hossain with the issue.
Jarina Khatun, convener of Nurse Sangram Parishad, said they have withdrawn their strike following the assurance of authorities concerned.
