A school student was killed in dispute over playing cricket and his dead body was recovered after 16-hour of missing in Jhalakati on Friday morning.
The victim was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 12, class-VI student of Kirtipasha Prosanno Kumar School and son of day-labour Anwar Hossain from Belda Khan Village under Keora union of Jhalakati Sadar upazila. Anwar Hossain, father of the victim, said Mehedi left home about 3:00 pm on Thursday to deposit money of loan installment of his father and became missing.
After wide spread searching, floating dead body of Mehedi was marked by the fishermen on Kirtipasha canal near the house of Razzak Selim, former upazila chairman at about 7:00 AM Friday and they informed police. Shilmoni Chakma, Jhalakati Sadar police station officer in charge (OC) said, police recovered the dead body with cutting marks on ear and chopping on different parts of the body and fastening marks on broken neck.The dead body was sent to Jhalakati General Hospital morgue and handed over to family members after autopsy on Friday afternoon.
