Police recovered the body of a schoolboy, who had remained missing since Tuesday, from a pond at Pashra in Sadar upazila on Thursday morning.
The deceased was identified as Azam,14, a class VIII student of Pashra MN Aziz High School. Localsspotted the floating body of Azam in a pond beside his school in the area in the morning and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to a hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Sayed Mohsinul Haque confirmed the incident.
Sheikh Farid, father of the deceased, said Azam had gone to his school to attend a Pahela Baishakh programme on Tuesday and did not return since.
