A college student from Satkhira was found dead in Khulna City on Friday, three days after he had gone missing.
Victim Habibur Rahman Sabuj, 26, was the son of Abdul Hamid of Omarpara village of Satkhira Sadar Upazila.
“His family got a call from his number on Friday morning. The caller said they had Sabuj and demanded Tk 6 lakh in ransom,” said Mustafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
Abdul Hamid, Sabuj’s father, said his son went to
Khulna on Tuesday morning and was expected to return the next day. Hamid filed a complaint at the local police station on Thursday evening.
“My son had a business deal in Khulna. He was also implicated in a case over this issue and had served jail term,” the man said. “His murder is likely related to his business.”
