Missing man’s body found in Gazipur

A young man was found dead in a paddy field in Mudafa area of Tongi on Monday, two days after his going missing.
The deceased was identified as Jahangir Hossain,31, a resident of the area. Alamgir Gazi, sub-inspector of Tongi Police Station, said Jahangir remained missing since after he went out of their house on Friday and locals spotted his body lying in the paddy field in the area yesterday morning.
On information, police recovered the body at about 11:30 am and sent it to Gazipur Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Police suspected that miscreants beat Jahangir to death.
Meanwhile, a college student, who suffered injuries in an attack by miscreants in Banamala area of Tongi on Saturday night, died at a private hospital at the capital’s Uttara early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Hannan,18, a resident of the area.
Police said Hannan came under attack in the area on Saturday night while he was returning home from his sister’s house.
Miscreants stabbed him indiscriminately with sharp weapons, leaving him injured.
Critically injured, Hannan was rushed to a private hospital at Uttara by local  
people where he succumbed to his injuries at about 1:30 am on Monday.
In another incident, a man was chopped to death by some miscreants in a paddy field in Joydebpur of the city on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Selim Hossain,30, son of Anwar Hossain, a resident of Uttar Bilashpur of Joydebpur area.
Victim’s family members and police said a group of miscreants picked up Selim from Joydebpur Bazar beside railway and chopped him at about 6:00pm over a land-related dispute.
Locals rescued him and sent him to Gazipur Sadar Hospital where on-duty doctor declared him dead.
