Police recovered the body of a local leader of Jatiya Jubo Sanghati, the youth front of Jatiya Party, at Baro Aulia in Bahubal upazila on Sunday morning, nearly 12 hours into his going missing.
Quoting family members, Officer-in-charge of Bahubal Police Station Mosharraf Hossain said Rafiqul Islam,35, son of late Abdur Rahman, a resident of Joypur village of the upazila and also newly elected president of Mirpur union parishad unit of Jubo Sanghati, had gone missing around 11pm on Saturday.
Later, locals spotted his body lying at a place at Baro Aulia around 11:30am on Sunday. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital for autopsy.
The incident was reported barely two weeks into the gruesome killing of four schoolboys at Sundrateki village in the same upazila.
