A local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami, whom family claimed to have been picked up by some plainclothes policemen from Shailakupa upazila around a week ago, was found dead at Jorapukur on the Harinakundu-Jhenidah road in Harinakundu upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Idris Ali alias Panna Hujur, 56, a Rokon of Raghunathpur union unit Jamaat-e-Islami and a teacher of Hossain Ali Aleem Madrasah of the upazila.
Being informed by locals, who noticed the body, police recovered it around 7:30am and sent it to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy, said Mahtab Uddin, officer-in-charge of Harinakundu Police Station. A motorcycle was also recovered from near the body.
