The 15-day-old Sohan Hossain was the son of Shohagh Hossain and Fatema Khatun of the village.
But, Police have arrested the child’s parents in the incident.
Earlier on Thursday (November 28) at noon, the child’s mother Fatema Begum announced that the child had been stolen from the side of the mother when she was sleeping in the bad.
Even victim’s father Shohagh also lodged a general diary with Sadar police station. Assaduzzaman, OC of Satkhira Sadar Police Station confirmed the news to the media and said that the accused family was so poor.
Getting inconsistent statements from the parents, police detained them and started interrogation. The couple reportedly admitted that they killed and dumped the body into the septic tank as the baby was born with multiple health complications including jaundice, pneumonia and heart disease.
Police later recovered the body from the septic tank around 1am on Saturday, OC added.
Earlier Fatema Khatun gave birth on November 11 at a private clinic in the district town.
After birth they had to take the baby to Khulna Medical College and Hospital due to its health complications. On Wednesday, the couple returned home from the hospital.
