Prof ABM Mosharraf Husain, Bagerha :
Shahidul Molla (38), a missing fisherman of village Dakkhin Amragachi under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district returned home on Saturday after long 11 years of the devastating Super Cyclone Sidr that swept over the coastal districts of the country on November 15 in the year 2007.
On the day (November 15, 2007) Shahidul went to the Bay of Bengal along with his father Ful Mia Molla and some other fisherman to catch fish. But when they reached Chaprakhalir Char (island) area they were caught by the cyclone Sidr and consequently they were missing in the Bay of Bengal. After the Sidr relatives searched them hither and thither. But no trace of them was found.
Manju Begum, elder sister of Shahidul told, on November 15 my younger brother Shahidul, father Ful Mia and some other fishermen went to the Bay of Bengal by a fishing trawler belonging to my husband and when they reached Chprakhaliir Char area their fishing trawler was caught by the Sidr. As a result, the fishing trawler was capsized in the Bay along with its all fishermen and crews. After the end of the cyclone relatives search them in the Bay of Bengal and the coastal areas. But no trace of them was found. So, we all guessed that none of them was alive at all.
After long11 years of the Super Cyclone Sidr on Saturday afternoon Shahidul was found loitering in Amragachi village market. Some locals identified Shahidul and took him to his residence. Shahidul told, I was so long working in the house of one Rashid Khan of Patgram in India as a cowherd. But I cannot remember how I could reach there. In the year 2007 when Shidul was missing he was 27 and left behind wife, one daughter and one son.
