Lieutenant Colonel Hasinur Rahman, a former Commanding Officer of RAB-7 (Rapid Action Battalion-7, Chattogram), has returned home 18 months after going missing.
Pallabi Police Station Inspector (investigation) Abdul Mabud said that Hasinur’s family members
informed them that Hasinur came back home on Friday night.
Quoting the family, the police official said he was normal, but had incoherent speech.
Hasinur’s wife Shamima Akhter said that he (Hasinur) came back home around 11:45pm on Friday.
Shamima said, “Hasinur could not say anything about his whereabouts during the time that he had been missing.”
Expressing relief over the return of her husband, Shamima said that the family members were not pressing him with further questions, as he was speaking incoherently.
“He has no injury marks, but his speech is incoherent. So, we aren’t troubling him with anything,” she said. Shamima also said he has high blood pressure, and that he will resort to doctor’s advice.
Hasinur was sacked from the army and stripped of his rank for his alleged links to militancy, according to her.
Hasinur was an honest and patriotic officer. He became a victim of conspiracy, she further said.
Earlier on the night of August 8, 2018, Hasinur Rahman was allegedly picked up by 14-15 men in plain clothes from near his home in Dhaka’s Mirpur DOHS area.
Shamima alleged that those people were wearing jackets with “DB” (Detective Branch of Police) inscribed on them, when they whisked her husband away in a microbus.
The next day, she filed a general diary (GD) with Pallabi Police Station.
Hasinur, who also served with Border Guard Bangladesh for a while, was sacked from Bangladesh Army for his alleged ties to militants.
Shamima also held a press conference at Crime Reporters’ Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) in the city’s Segunbagicha on August 17, 2018 after he went missing.
