Dr. Shakir-bin-Wali, newly passed MBBS doctor, missing recently was shown arrested by the Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit.
Earlier on Tuesday night, the police registered a case against this doctor under the Anti-Terrorism Act with Rampura Police Station.
In the case statement, counterterrorism officials claimed that the accused doctor had link to the banned militant group Ansar al Islam.
Kazi Mizanur Rahman, an inspector of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit of DMP, mentioned in the case statement that a team of CTTC first arrested Abrarul Haque (18) from Moghbazar area around 2:00pm on Tuesday night. Based on his information, they later arrested Shakir from in front of his Hajipara house around 5:00pm the same day.
In the case statement, inspector Mizanur claimed that Shakir is an active member of Ansar al Islam and used to motivate youths for extremism. The CTTC official claimed Shakir had connection with the seven youths who went missing from Cumilla recently. Being motivated by Shakir, the youths joined Ansar al Islam and left their houses.
