Unidentified miscreants tried to torch locked law chamber of Adv Talukdar Md. Yunus, AL lawmaker for Barisal-2 and district AL secretary at Fakirbari Road in the city on Wednesday midnight. After visiting the spot it was learnt that miscreants pouring inflammable liquids on the door tried to torch the tin-shed law chamber at about 11:00 PM Wednesday midnight.
Neighbours seeing the flame rushed to the spot and extinguished that immediately. Entrance door of the chamber sustained minor damage. The law chamber was locked and had important documents of the clients, law books and furniture, said Advocate Kaium Khan, assistant of the lawmaker.
Abdur Rouf, deputy commissioner ( south) Barisal Metropolitan Police and AL leaders visited the spot at night.
Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station officer in charge, said police recovered a plastic bottle used for carrying inflammable liquids and investigating the incident.
Lawmaker and district AL secretary Advocate Yunus was in Dhaka to attend the session of National Assembly and said after hearing the incident he asked police to investigate the matter.
