Miscreants snatched money by chopping leaser of Qurbani haat at Mohanganj under Barisal Airport police station of Barisal Metropolitan Police on Thursday night.
The victim Lalu Bepari, 59, admitted at orthopedics ward of Barisal Sher -e- Bangla Medical College Hospital. A case has been lodged in this connection by Bashar Bepari, brother of the victim Lalu Bepari, on Friday against 7/8 local hooligans named three as Tahid, Saidul and Mintu, said Anwar Hossain, officer in charge of the police station. The named accused was drug peddlers and local hooligans. Police started drives to arrest the accused, but till this report none was detained, the OC said.
Bashar Bepari, complainant of the case, alleged that local hooligans since last few days demanding Tk 2 lakhs as tolls from his brother, who was leaser of Mohanganj haat for operating local market of sacrificing animals there.
As Lalu Bepari denied paying the toll the miscreants attacked Lalu Bepari on Thursday night and injured severely by chopping him. The attackers also snatched Tk. 1.4 lakhs from the cash of the business enterprise of Lalu Bepari.
Local people rushed to the spot rescuing the victim sent to Barisal SBMCH on Thursday night, Bashar added.
