The miscreants have set fire into 4 houses by locking the door of the bedroom in Baraigram of Natore. The fire burned 13 tinsed houses of 4 semi-detached houses and caused a loss of Tk 4 million. At that time 5 members of the family were burnt and more than 100 ducks, chickens, pigeons and 5 goats were burnt to death on the spot. Besides, about Tk 4 lakh in cash have been burnt. The incident took place at the house of Sattar Ali Khan, a businessman in Mosinda village of the upazila, along with his three sons at around 12 midnight on Wednesday.
The victim Akbar Ali said that he fell asleep with his family after dinner at night. At around 12 o’clock in the night, when he saw a fire in the tin-shed of my bedroom
he got out of bed and tried to open the door. But the door was locked. Unable to open the door, he broke down the door and came out of the room with his family. At our shouts the neighbors came forward and opened the door of his father and brother’s house. Neighbors tried to extinguish the fire in various ways and when they informed the Bonpara Fire Service Station, they came and brought the fire under control.
The victim Sattar Ali Khan said, all the TVs, fridges, furniture and other things in their house have been burnt to ashes. “Friday was the wedding day of my eldest son’s daughter Asha,” he added. On this occasion, all the markets including buying and selling were completed. Which ended in an instant. We became destitute.
Family members believe the incident was caused by animosity.
Bonpara Fire Service Station Officer Akramul Hasan said that after going to the spot and trying to control the fire for about 2 hours, 95% were burnt. The amount of damage is estimated at 12 lakh rupees. Baraigram Upazila Chairman Dr. Siddikur Rahman, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mst. Marium Khatun, Police Station OC Abu Siddique visited the spot on Thursday and gave away tin, cash taka, blankets, clothes and food substances.
