Miscreants ransack dwelling house, loot belongings in Bagerhat

A dwelling house belonging to one Altaf Shaikh, a local Sramik League leader and an inhabitant of village Paschim Sayera within Saitgumaz Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district was ransacked and its belongings were looted by some alleged opponents accompanied by a number of outsiders on Tuesday noon. At that time Altaf Shaikh’s wife Lipi Begum, son Bappi Shaikh and mother-in-law Zobeda Begum were injured in the hands of the miscreants.
In this connection victim Altaf Shaik lodged a GD with Bagerhat Sadar PS. Police visited the place of occurrence, but nobody was arrested till the writing of this report.
 According to the GD, Altaf Shaikh took a plot of 25 decimals of lands in Paschim Sayera village on lease from the WDB where he already constructed his swelling house and has been livening there along with the members of his family for long. But on the day his opponents A Rashid Shaikh, Rakhi Shaikh, Suja Shaikh and others accompanied by a gang of hired miscreants, about 1 hundred in number, attacked his house, ransacked it and looted cash Tk.3.90 lakh, 2 gold bracelets and a gold necklace. When his wife, son and his mother-in-law tried to resist them the miscreants beat them mercilessly.
Mahatab Uddin, OC , Bagerhat Model PS told, being informed of the matter a police squad were sent to the spot. But the miscreants fled away before the arrival of the police at the spot. So, nobody was arrested. Altaf Shaikh registered a complaint with PS as the plaintiff. Police were trying to arrest the culprits.
