Miscreants destroy 30,000 plant in Kulaura

At least 30,000 trees were cut down by miscreants on forest land at Panikhaori area in Noldori beat under Kulaura Upazila of Moulvibazar.
 Some forest guards visited the area and found it on Friday afternoon. Now police visits underway.
According to eyewitnesses and police sources, 2018-19 forest departments decided to plant 30,000 trees in Panikhaori area under Noldorli forest. Under the plan forest department made nursery and prepare 50 acres land under social forest.
Forest department said, for the last one month, 30 thousand saplings were planted with polybag, planting cost five lakh taka.
Kulaura Range Officer Manik Ranjan Dey said, saplings were planted in 30 thousand polybags in the forest area of 50 acres land under social forestry. Few days ago Khasi headman Dil Bahadur removed our boundaries and destroyed some saplings and threatened me for murder.
Following the incident, I filed a GD to Kulaura police station against Dil Bahadur, headman of Begonchara punjee on last 21st March. After filing general dairy some miscreants burnt the 30,000 saplings of whole shade on fire. Our guards were seen it on Friday afternoon. Forest department filed 11 cases against this headman for occupying forest land.
In this incident, senior forest officials of Sylhet division of forest department were informed and we filed complained on Friday night. In this cause police were visiting the spot.
Lobonchara punjee headman Dil Bahadur said, forest department complained is fully wrong. Forest department destroy our betel leaf garden for planting under social forest. We save our forest. Kulaura Thana Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) Sanjay Chakraborty said, necessary legal action will be taken in the investigation of forest department complained.
