Unidentified miscreants damaged idols of Shitla in a temple of Hindu community at Tikasar under ward 5 of Gournadi municipal area in Barisal district on early Friday.
Harisur Rahman Haris, AL backed municipal chairman; leaders of Bangladesh Hindu Buddha Christian Oikya Parishad (BHBCOP), officer- in -charge of local police station visited the spot after informed on Friday morning.
Kaliya Daman Guha, upazila President of BHBCOP, visiting the spot said unnamed miscreants damaged the idols of Shitla temple at the house of Nirmal Shil on early Friday. The miscreants also discoloured the idols and threw dresses of the idols at nearby pond, BHBCOP leader told. Abul Kalam, Gournadi police station officer in charge, said earlier a drug addicted youth named Abdul Kaium, 26, was arrested by police for throwing away different items from that temple on August 26.
The present incident may be happened due to land disputes among the co-sharers of Shil-Bari.
However, police started investigation and preparation for lodging a case going on, the police officer told.
