Miscreants have cut down mango trees on a two-bigha plot at Devidaspur in Manirampur upazila on Tuesday night.
Abdul Bari, a former Union Parishad member and owner of the mango orchard, said he did not have enmity with anyone. “I don’t understand why this happened,” he said.
Bari has been involved with growing mango for the last several years. He got a bumper production last year.
He planted 105 mango plants of Bari-4 variety on his two bigha of lands last year that were cut down by miscreants.
Rabiul Islam, deputy assistant agriculture officer, said he had learned about the matter from the victim and suggested him to file a police complaint.
Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Manirampur Police Station, said necessary legal measures would be taken after investigation if they get complaint regarding the matter.
