Babu alias Palsar Babu, 35, the main accused in Awami League activist Abbas Mollah, 40 murder case, who was killed in a bomb attack near Rostampur Government Primary School at around 11:30 am on January 3, was killed in a ‘shootout’ between the members of the Rapid Action Battalion early Saturday.
The killed Babu was a resident of Jhikargachha, too. He was a listed miscreant.
Abu Saleh Md Masud Karim, officer in-charge, Jhikargachha police station told that Abbas was killed over factional feud of the ruling Awami League.
The OC after the ‘gunfight’ confirmed that the dead is the main accused in the AL activist Abbas killing Palsar Babu. He was an accused in several cases.
Major Zia, commander, Jessore camp, RAB – 6 claimed that the body of a man was recovered from the spot after a ‘gunfight’ between the miscreants and the members of Rapid Action Battalion as the RAB men went there having information about arms trading at around 4am on Saturday. A pistol, one round of bullet and a magazine were recovered from the spot.
Two RAB men were wounded during the ‘gunfight’ the RAB official claimed.
