Afghanistan set to tour Bangladesh for a white-ball series in the last week of February after the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have decided to host the T20I series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium of Mirpur instead of Sylhet.
BCB had earlier planned to have Chittagong and Sylhet as venues for the upcoming series. Jalal Yunus, chairman of the BCB’s cricket operations committee, confirmed the T20I series will be staged at Mirpur and said the final decision would be taken after reviewing the wicket of Mirpur.
The entire three-match ODI series will be played at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. The BCB has not yet finalized the schedule for the series.
“Three ODIs of this series will be played in Chittagong. We are not hosting the T20 series in Sylhet. We will finalize it in a day or two. The wicket of Dhaka is being observed. The series will be held in Dhaka,” said Jalal Yunus.
Afghanistan does not have to quarantine for seven days after coming to Bangladesh. The contingent will undergo PCR-Test as soon as they reach Bangladesh. If they returned negative, Afghan cricketers will be able to start training.
According to the draft schedule, the three ODIs of the International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI Super League will be played on February 23, 25 and 27 at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong. There will be two T20I matches on March 2 and 4 in Mirpur.
