Mirpur camp victims meet Khaleda

Staff Reporter :Relatives of the Mirpur Bihari camp killing victims met BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia on Thursday night. Held at her Gulshan office in the city, the meeting began at about 8:30 pm and was continuing till filing the report at about 9:30 pm. Khaleda Zia was talking to the relatives of the victims and consoling them. Ten people, including four women and four children, were killed in an attack in the stranded Pakistanis at Bihari camp at Mirpur’s Kalshi early Saturday. Of them, nine were burnt to death while another was shot dead by police. Earlier, the BNP chief in a statement blamed the ruling party and the police for the killing and demanded formation of a judicial probe committee for the incident. Meanwhile, different organisations arranged rally and other programmes in the city protesting the killing. They demanded arrest of the ruling party MP Ilias Uddin Mollah in this connection. Leaders of different left-leaning parties at a sit-in-programme pointed their fingers at the local MP for the 10 killing and made the demand of his arrest. The Biharis arranged the programme in front of their camp. Coordinator of Gonotantrik Bam Morcha Suvranshu Chakrabarty, coordinator of Gono Sanghati Andolan Zunayed Saki and general secretary of Biplobi Workers’ Party Saiful Haque addressed it, among others, along with the Biharis.
