The Supreme Court`s (SC) chamber judge has set July 25 for hearing on review plea of the convicted war criminal and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mir Quasem Ali’s death penalty.
Chamber judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique passed the ordered on Tuesday.
Earlier, the state counsels filed a petition the court seeking date for review hearing of the death-row convict Mir Quasem Ali.
Earlier on June 19, Mir Quasem Ali sought review of the Supreme Court (SC) verdict that upheld his death penalty for war crimes during the liberation war in 1971.
He submitted the review petition through the lawyers, praying to the apex court to acquit him of all the charges on which he was found guilty.
He sought acquittal to SC referring 14 grounds in the 68-pages petition.
Earlier on June 6, SC published the 244-pages full verdict against Mir Quasem Ali convicting him for war crimes during liberation war in 1971.
The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) in November 2014 sentenced Quasem to death for atrocities committed during the liberation war in 1971.
