BNP Vice, Chairman Abdul Awal Mintoo, Joint Secretary Generals Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel are not contesting in the 11th Parliamentary Election slated for December 30.
BNP Chairperson’s press wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan confirmed it.
But he could not disclose the reasons behind their decisions.
When contacted, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal told the New Nation on Wednesday, “The polls, where our Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia and Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman could not contest, I am not ready to run the race. Replying to a query, he said, “In the constituency, my party nominated me, there is another candidate. One of them will be finally official candidate. So, the party will not be hampered for my decision.”
According to a source in the party, Alal backtracked his decision to join the upcoming election as he did not get the nomination from Barishal-5. The party has nominated him for Barishal-2 instead.
Abdul Awal Mintoo could not be contacted for his comment in this regards while Habib Un Nabi Khan Sohel is in jail.
