BNP Standing Committee Member Nazrul Islam Khan on Thursday said, everyone of Jamaat-e-Islami cannot be war criminal. BNP will not allow any war criminal to contest in the ensuing polls with the party’s electoral symbol ‘Sheaf of Paddy’.
“There are freedom fighters also in Jamaat. I can assure you that no war criminal will be allowed to use our ‘Sheaf of Paddy’ symbol,” said Nazrul Islam Khan in a press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan office.

is not accused of opposing our war for independence?”
Replying to another query Nazrul said, “Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and some other leaders are not contesting in the polls as a strategy of the party.”
He said, “We are not contesting but working for those leaders who are running the polls.”
The BNP leader said, police are arresting many of our party men everyday. It is hampering the polls atmosphere.
“More than 50 leaders and activists were arrested in last 24 hours in the capital. It is not sign of friendly election atmosphere,” he said.
But the partisan EC has sewed his lips, he added.
BNP leaders Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, Abdus Salam Azad and Belal Ahmed, among others, were present.
