The ruling Awami League called upon the members of the minority communities not to be misled by the falsehood resorted to by BNP.
Publicity and Publication affairs secretary of Awami League (AL) Dr Hasan Mahmud made this call on Wednesday while addressing a press conference at the political office of the party president Sheikh Hasina at Dhanmondi in the city.The press conference was convened to give reply to the remarks of BNP chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia made at a function arranged to exchange greetings with the Hindu community marking the “Shubha Bijoya” at the auditorium of Engineers Institution in the capital on Tuesday.
AL central leaders including information and research affairs secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, deputy office secretary Advocate Mrinal Kanti Das, MP, deputy publicity secretary Asim Kumar Ukil and SM Kamal Hossain were present at the press conference, among others.
Dr Hasan Mahmud said, “It’s an inherent behaviour of BNP to spread communalism and religious hatred. On the other hand, secularism is one of the policies of Awami League which assures persons of all religions in the country to practice equally their religious rights.”
