A child bakery worker was beaten to death allegedly by the bakery owner and its staff in Ramkrisnapur area in Chandraganj area of Sadar upazila Monday.
The deceased was identified as Alauddin, 13, son of Abul Kalam, a resident of Mandari village of Uttar Joypur union parishad of the upazila.
Alauddin used to work at ‘Ananda Bakery’ in the area owned by Al Amin and Nasir Uddin on a monthly wage of TK 3,000. The deceased’s father Abul Kalam said bakery owner Al Amin along with other staff of the bakery, including Ibrahim Hossain, Prokash Shahjahan, Shamim and Nizam, used to torture Alauddin when he refused to work extra hours. Over the issue, Alauddin locked into altercation with the staffs on Sunday night. At one stage, they started beating him mercilessly and strangled him to death.
Later they hanged his body from a rod of the roof and left the bakery. Locals informed police in the Monday morning after they found the bakery locked from outside. Police recovered the body from the bakery in the morning and sent it to Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Meanwhile, police also arrested three people including the two owner from the area, said Md Kawser Chowdhury, sub-inspector of Chandraganj Police Station.
