UNB, Dhaka:
A 16-year-old boy returning home from work was stabbed to death allegedly by a minor mugger in the Kamrangirchar area of the capital late on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Md Ripon, son of Alam Sharif of Palerchar village in Jajira upazila of Shariatpur district. He worked as a salesman at a shop in the city’s Eastern Plaza.
Eye-witnesses said that Ripon was returning home around 11pm when the 13-year-old accused, along with two others, tried to snatch his cell phone in Kamrangichar.
When Ripon resisted the snatching bid, the accused teen stabbed him twice in his stomach before escaping in the dark.
A seriously injured Ripon was rushed to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Md Bachchu Mia, inspector at DMCH police camp, said that the body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
