A 9- year old girl named Maya was strangulated to death by her step- father Al-Amin in the village Matherpar under Sharankhola Upazila in Bagerhat district.
Police arrested Al-Amin, step -father in connection with the tragic incident.
Police and locals said, Al-Amin, son of one Fazlul Haq of village Matherpar married a woman named Putul, mother of a 9 -year old daughter of village Kadamtala under the same Upazila one and half a months ago but Maya had been missing since Tuesday.
The dead body of May was found in a paddy field belonging to one Mithu Khalifa of the same village on Wednesday in the after noon. Both her hands and legs were tied with ropes. Police arrested step father Al-Amin suspecting his movements. Later he confessed his guilty to the police for strangulating his step daughter to death.
Police recovered the dead body and sent the same to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for autopsy. In this connection a case was registered with the local PS.
