A 11-year old girl was raped by a hotel staff in St Martin’s Island of Cox’s Bazar on Friday night.
After the incident, police arrested alleged rapist Imran Hossain, 50, hailed from Lahar Kandi village of Laxmipur district, said Md Azmir Elahi, Sub-Inspector (SI) and In-Charge of St Martin’s Island Police Outpost, quoting family members.
According to the police official, Imran took her to a hotel room alluring to give chocolate and raped her around 8:00pm. The girl went to a local market to purchase betel-leaf. As she did not return home, family members started searching for her. At one stage, they, with the help of locals rescued the girls from the hotel room and informed the police.
Police arrested the alleged rapist from the hotel, the SI said.
A rape case was filed against Imran with Teknaf Police Station, SI Azmir said.
Imran confessed to his involvement in the rape.
