A six-year-old minor girl was strangled to death after rape allegedly by her neighbour in Parkrishnopur village of Damurhuda upazila in Chuadanga district on Saturday night.
Police on Sunday morning also arrested a youth namely Mominul Islam, 20, in connection with the incident.
Relatives’ sources said that on Saturday afternoon, the victim girl
returned home from school and then went out to search for her mother but didn’t return.
After eight hours of disappearance, locals were looking for her in Krishnapur area. After two and a half hours of efforts, her blood stained dead body was found in a field in front of the Krishnapura Union Parishad at around 9:30 pm.
After being informed by locals, police recovered the mutilated body of the first grader from a deserted crop field.
Sukumar Biswas, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Damurhuda Model police station confirmed the news to the media and said, an investigation is going on. “Primary investigation reveals that the child was raped before being strangled to death,” the OC said.
