An eight-year-old girl was hacked to death in Habiganj on early Monday following a row over mango plucking.
The deceased was identified as Meem, daughter of Lal Khan of Chhatiain village at Madhabpur upazila in the district, police said.
Local sources said that Mashuk Miah of the Chhatiain village had a quarrel with his neighour and brother-in-law Lal Khan on Sunday noon over mango plucking.
Masuk was left injured during the quarrel and Lal Khan alleged that Masuk’s son Rashed Miah and his friends launched an attack in his home on Monday as a sequel of the incident.
Meem sustained a blow of machete on her head and died instantly on the spot, confirmed Madhabpur police officer-in-charge Chandan Kumar Chakrabarti.
‘Effort to arrest the suspects involved with the killing was undergoing,’ he said.
