An eight-year-old girl on Monday drowned in the river Buriganga at Postogola in the city.
The victim was identified as Anchal, 8, a class two student of a primary school, daughter of Md Mokbul Hossain.
The incident occurred around 1 pm when Anchal along with her friends were taking bath in the river Buriganga near their house at Archin Gate, police and family sources said.
