Rifat murder: Minni not well, says her father

Ayesha Siddika Minni’s father Mozammel Hossain Kishore on Saturday expressed his concern over the health condition of her daughter who now in jail in connection with her husband Rifat Sharif’s murder.
“She is not well. She may die without any treatment,” Kishore said while going out of Barguna Jail after meeting with her daughter there around 11:00am.
While going out, Kishore was seemed distressed and angry. Expressing his discontent to plain clothed police, he said that he could not talk with his daughter as he wishes.
The plain clothed police also stand near him when he wanted to talk with journalists, Kishore alleged.
On July 16, Ayesha Siddika Minni was arrested in Rifat murder case and sent to jail. The next day she was put on a five-day remand.
She was produced before the court of Barguna’s senior judicial magistrate Mohammad Sirajul Islam and taken her confessional statement before completion of the five-day remand.
On July 20, Minni’s family members met her in jail. They told reporters that police physically and mentally tortured her.
Two days later, Barguna District Ainjibi Samity General Secretary Mahabubul Bari Aslam appealed to magistrate Sirajul Islam to treat the accused in hospital and withdraw her confessional statement.
But the judge rejected the plea and advised Minni self appeal by prison authorities.
On July 24, Advocate Bari met her in jail. After coming out, he said she has been tortured physically and mentally. Even, she cannot walk well. She needs treatment, he added.
On Friday, Barguna Civil Surgeon officer Dr Habibur Rahman said, Minni is well after he took information about her health.
