The good reputations of the Chittagong City Corporation have been damaged following the statement of the Minister for Housing and Public Works Engr Mosharraf Hossain .
The ward councilors and women councilors of the city corporation in a joint statement resented the statement of the minister A press statement in connection of the ward councilors issued to the media on Sunday .
Sources said, the Minister ‘s comment on the opening ceremony of flyover decorations programs of Akhtaruzzaman Flyover recently .
He mentioned that the port city turned into a unclean and debris covered city .
The councilors in their statement said the statement of the Minister also demises the reputations of the present govt.
The councilors in their statement reputed the statement of the Minister , baseless and motivated nothing else.
The statement of the councilors was told that at present 775 van cart are removing garbage from the city and also collecting household wastes under door to door programs, sources said.
Early marriage bid foiled : Police foiled an early marriage bid in Halishahar area of the port city on Thursday night.
The marriage of class IX student Hosne Akhter Happy, 14, daughter of Surat Ali and Panir Hossain, 18, son of Abul Kashem, a class X student of Halishahar Ideal School, was scheduled to be solemnized at night, said local ward councilor Morshed Akhter Chowdhury.
On information, police along with the ward councilor and locals rushed in and foiled their attempt, said Mahabur Morshed, sub inspector of Halishahar Police Station. Later, police detained the students, their parents and the assistant of marriage registrar’s office.However, they were released on bond.
