Ministers agree on BD-Nepal bus service

The transport ministers of Bangladesh and Nepal have agreed to open direct bus services between Dhaka and Kathmandu.
The agreement came from a meeting between Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader and visiting Nepalese Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Bimalendra Nidhi held at the Physical Infrastructure and Transport Ministry yesterday (Sunday).
The discussion on ‘Motor Vehicles Agreement’ signed between Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Bhutan on June 15 was also held at the meeting regarding the implementation of the agreement next January.
The Saarc secretariat is likely to arrange a meeting with the transport ministers of Saarc countries in September in this regard. The two ministers have agreed that they will complete the entire process of the implementation of the agreement with all sides by December this year.
Minister Bimalendra Nidhi thanked Bangladesh Prime Minister for the relief assistance following the recent earthquake in Nepal that killed more than 9,000 people and injured more than 23,000. Bangladesh ambassador to Nepal Mashfee Binte Shams, senior officials of the ministry of Road Transport and Bridges and the Nepalese Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, among others, were present at the meeting.
