Minister for Housing and Public Works Engr. Mosharraf Hossain visited the ongoing construction works of the Akhtaruzzaman Flyover from Muradpur to Lalkhan Bazar point in the port city on Friday.
Chairman of Chittagong Development Authority Abdus Salam, Ward councilor Md. Giasuddin, Hasan Murad and the senior officials of the contracting firm Max Bangladesh accompanied the minister during the visit.
The minister during his visit said following the earnest desires of the PrimeMinister , the ongoing construction of the flyover will be completed very soon. He said the construction will not end at Lalkhan Bazar point rather it will be expanded upto Chittagong Airport.
After completion of the flyover upto airport, the air passengers will be able to reach airport within half an hour but at present it requires minimum two hours. For congestion free movement of the transports , a number of passages for embarking and disembarking in flyover in several points will be kept .
He also said the architectural design of the flyover recently changed keeping provisions for outlets in important points of the city.
He also disclosed that for changing the preliminary design of the flyover , a 7-members committee constituted headed by the vice chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering & Technology for finding out any loopholes of the first architectural design, a CDA sources said.
