Minister upbeat on BD-UAE package tourism

Enhancing air connectivity between United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bangladesh will play a pivotal role in expanding tourism and trade between the two countries.
This was told at a meeting when the UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr Jaded Bin Hajar Al Shehi called on Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon at his secretariat office on Tuesday.
At the meeting, they observed that package tourism and on-arrival visas can play an important role in attracting tourists from the both the countries, said a press release.
They discussed details on how to expand cooperation between Dhaka-Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah to increase air connectivity as well as to promote tourism, the release added.
Air connectivity is an important mode of transportation to carry tourists and business travelers, high-value fragile goods and perishable commodities from one place to another at a shorter time.
The continuation of disagreements, group conflicts, terrorism among Muslim countries and the role of the Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) and conference of the OIC Tourism Ministers scheduled to be held in Dhaka on November 10-12, also came up for discussion.
