Illegal wealth: Minister Mosharraf asked to surrender at trial court

The High Court (HC) Division of the Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Housing and Public Works Minister Engineer Mosharraf Hossain to surrender in a trial court within six weeks in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) for hiding wealth information.
A HC bench comprising Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Amir Hossain passed the order, rejecting a petition filed by the minister challenging the legality of the proceedings of the corruption case.
On November 25, 2007, the ACC filed the case with Ramna Police Station against Mosharraf Hossain for amassing wealth worth taka three crore beyond reasonable sources. The minister filed a writ petition challenging the legality of the case in 2008. The HC stayed the proceedings of the case and issued a rule on August 27, 2008.
Advocate Abdul Matin Khosru stood for the petitioner, while Advocate Khurshid Alam represented the State.
