UNB, Dhaka :The Appellate Division on Sunday upheld a High Court judgement that cancelled the 13-year jail sentence ofEnvironment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju in a case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) for allegedly accumulating wealth illegally.A four-member bench, led by Chief Justice S K Sinha, passed the order dismissing an appeal filed bythe ACC challenging the HC verdict. Barrister Rukon Uddin Mahmud stood for Manju, while Syed Mamun Mahmud for the ACC.Earlier on August 26, 2008, the Special Judge Court sentenced Anwar Hossain Manju to 13 years in jail for allegedly amassing illegal wealth and concealing information about that.The ACC filed the case against Manju On October 7, 2007. On August 10, 2010, the HC scraped the lower court verdict following an appeal filed by Manju in 2009.Later, the ACC filed an appeal with the Supreme Court against the HC order.
