Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Sunday directed Gulshan Police to take immediate steps to rescue missing Mohona TV journalist FM Mushfiqur Rahman.
Minister Kamal hoped that the journalist would be rescued as soon as possible.
I’ve spoken with (Gulshan Division) Deputy Commissioner Mostaque Ahmed and ordered him to immediately find out the missing journalist.
The minister gave the instruction at a programme in the city’s Karwan Bazar on Sunday.
On Saturday, Mushfiqur went missing in the evening when he was returning home from Gulshan-1 after meeting his uncle.
After failing to trace his whereabouts, Mushfiqur’s uncle Ezabul Huq filed a general diary (GD- 1920) with Gulshan Police Station on Saturday night.
Earlier, Mushfiqur filed a complaint with Pallabi Police on July 22, a day after receiving a death threat.
A Senior Reporter of private television channel Mohona TV Mushfiqur Rahman went missing, said his wife Salma Rahman.
“After meeting his uncle at 8:00pm Saturday, he was on his way home. Later on, we found his phone switched off,” she said.
DMP’s Gulshan Division Deputy Commissioner Mushtaqe Ahmed said that police are examining CCTV footages to trace Mushfiqur.
