Minimising of distances between police, people emphasised : IGP

Inspector General of Police, Bangladesh AKM Shahidul Hoque mentioned that following the minimizing of distances between the police and mass people, the people will get maximum services .
He disclosed it while addressing the 38th founding anniversary of Chittagong Metropolitan police at Chittagong on Wednesday as chief guest.
 Police IG said CMP launched journey with 6 police stations but now expanded into 16 thanas. The preliminary manpower of CMP was only 2 thousand now stands at 7 thousand, he added. IGP said to extend cooperation and service to police members, community policing system is being introduced in metropolitan areas which is accepted by the mass people. He said to curb the terrorism, militancy, cooperation of people of all strata needed and sought cooperation of people to stable the law and order in the country. Police commissioner of Chittagong Iqbal Bahar presided over the anniversary function .
DIG of Chittagong Range Shafiqul Islam, former IGP Nurul Huda, former CMP commissioner Osman Ali Khan and former city Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury were present on the occasion as special guest, a CMP release said.
